Please join Amnesty-Amherst for its annual program in honor of Human Rights Day. Pioneer Valley No More Guantanamos is proud once again to cosponsor this important observance.
The program will begin with a "Write for Rights" session in which attendees are invited to write letters of advocacy on behalf of prisoners or letters of support to the prisoners. At approximately 6:30, noted human rights activist Joseph Wronka will speak. Mr. Wronka hosts the Amherst Community TV program, Creating a Human Rights Culture. He is a long-time advocate for human rights nationally and internationally. He is Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva for the International Association of Schools of Social Work and part-time representative to the UN in New York for the People’s Movement for Human Rights Learning. He is also President of Human Rights Action International. He has been Vice President of the World Citizen Foundation and a board member of the Coalition for a Strong United Nations.
We also will hear a music performance of ragas by John Paul Maynard, interspersed during the program, and, to conclude, a poetry recitation by Ingrid Askew.
The evening will end with refreshments and informal chatting.
