On October 3, North Carolina Stop Torture Now began a two-part grassroots campaign of letters to current and former U.S. detainees.  Images from our activity at Festifall, an annual arts festival in Chapel Hill, NC are available below and additional resources are here.

In the first part, we are gathering signatures of ordinary North Carolinians on a letter to victims and survivors, pledging to work for accountability. We will continue gathering signatures on this letter at the Peace Booth in the North Carolina State Fair later this month. The attached background sheet is for those who want more information.

In the second part, we are asking people to hand-write short letters of support to individual prisoners detained at Guantánamo, to let them know they are not forgotten.
